Job Title: Horizontal Lead- Derby

Position Summary

Leads overall continuous improvement of production procedures across multiple shifts. Develops tactical gap-to-goal plans as well as mid-range strategic plans. Drives overall production performance though the implementation of continuous improvement processes and development of a zero-loss culture. Drives overall line performance of production. Should have a good knowledge of production standard operating procedure (SSOP) and GMPs. Leads team members to identify, manage, and execute the plants process improvement opportunities. Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team oriented work force in order to improve business results. 3 years related experience.


•The production lead reports to immediate supervisor and will be responsible to ensure the production procedures and direct team members as required and/or reassign work assignment as needed.

• Understand and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the production process in order to ensure a quality and production standards.

• Communicate any problems or changes in the production process to appropriate personnel.

• Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

• Ensures all production related equipment works properly.

• Must complete all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner.

• Help identifies potential safety hazards in the plant.

• Must ensure proper Pre-op on associate’s area of responsibilities.

• Holds a safety tool talk prior to the production process.

• Must have knowledge in chemical usage.

• Must have knowledge of OSHA standards on lock out tag out (LOTO).

• Will be responsible in training new hires for this particular department.

• Must work with supervisor to request temporary help with regards to employee absences by carrying out specifically delegated functions to maintain continuity of normal process.

• Must be able to monitor productivity vs. standard.

• Set up machinery ensuring all production materials are available.

• Operate and monitor areas and replenish materials as needed.

• Visually inspect areas run and document results.

• Verify and check paperwork that must be completed.

• Other duties as assigned.


• High School or technical school education, or equivalent
• Must have at least 3 years of related leadership experience, preferably in a manufacture environment.
• Good communication skills, bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred
• Must be able to read and write legibly in English
• Must be able to have a flexible schedule and be willing to work OT / holidays/ weekends
• Intermediate math skills required


  • Must be able to stand/be seated for 8 hours or more 
  • Must be able to work in a wide range of Temperatures
  •  Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry up to 50 pounds. 
  •  Coordination of mental and visual attention
  •  Continuous bending/ stooping/ climbing ladders/ pushing/ pulling

Additional Requirements

*Must have good communication skills and positive attitude.

* Periodic lifting of up to 30 lbs, pushing and pulling on occasion.  Sitting, standing and walking throughout the day.

*Must be able to understand, write and speak Basic English. 

*Must be able to read and write clear, legibly and effectively

*Must be able to be standing and walk long distances for extended periods of time.

*Must be able to work in a wide range of temperatures

*Must be able to effectively move around a manufacturing plant which includes but it’s not   limited to stairs, ladders, platforms and equipment.

*Must be able to follow all safety policies and procedures including the use of safety equipment

*Must be able to read, understand and follow written instructions and materials

*Must be able to recognize visual signals, shapes, warning labels or signs
