Job Description

The Forklift/Yard Driver is responsible to perform all phases of work required to assist in handling product and materials for all Warehouse, Yard, and manufacturing and packaging operations in a safe, quality, and efficient manner, while ensuring quality and food safety standards are being met. 



Essential Functions

To perform jobs successfully, the incumbent will be required to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.  The company reserves the right to modify, delete or add to the essential functions for this position at any time.

  • Actively participate in maintaining a Food Safe environment and follow GMPs and Food Safety Guidelines and report any food safety or quality issues to a Supervisor.
  • Follow all safety standards for associated work areas, report incidents/near misses, and proactively identify hazards 
  • Participate in improvement projects to support continuous improvement and support 5S efforts and keep areas clean and presentable
  • Drive a fork truck safely, efficiently and fill out required safety inspection report
  • Proficiently operate a yard tractor safely, and perform light maintenance on yard tractor, check fluids, set breaks, etc.
  • Work closely with warehouse personnel coordinating stock transfers
  • Perform Yard Checks
  • Intercept carrier traffic and direct them appropriately
  • Between spotting trailers, may be required to work on miscellaneous projects or perform other duties as directed
  • Must be flexible to cover extended hours as business needs require
  • Must be dependable and have a good attendance record
  • Responsible for all tasks called out in Warehouse Fork Truck position (available upon request)
  • Perform any other duties as directed by any member of the Kenosha management team
  • Work in other departments as assigned.
  • Perform all transactions accurately and efficiently in SAP

Skills, Experience and Education: (List or check the Minimum requirements for skills, experience and education for this position.  Note: Education which is Preferred may be listed on the line provided below.)

Qualifications Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current Class D License with clean driving record
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift and obtain forklift certification
  • Competency of basic math
  • Read, write and communicate in English
  • Must work well in a team based environment
  • Must comply with all HACCP, GMPs and housekeeping requirements
  • Exhibits Safe Behaviors
  • Exhibit personal accountability for quality of work and attendance

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to follow written policies, programs and SOP’s
  • Forklift certification and previous forklift driving experience
  • Experience driving a semi
  • Current Class A CDL License preferred
  • Proficiency in SAP preferred and experience in Microsoft Office programs

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, bend, and use hands and fingers. 





Minimum Physical Requirements

  • On and off forklift/driving 90% of a 8-12 hour shift
  • Ability to climb onto and get off the forklift regularly
  • Will walk/stand throughout the shift and be able to use both hands, twist, bend, stoop, reach and maneuver in tight or cramped areas.
  • Will climb stairs, ladders, equipment scaffolding, tanks and heights to 50 feet.
  • Will push/pull/lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Will use one or both hands to hold, grip, and use tools required for duties, including but not limited to a utility knife.
  • Will hear and talk on an ongoing basis in an atmosphere of moderate and loud noise.
  • Will work in and around cold water or hot water up to 185° F.
  • Will work in cold, warm, hot, humid and/or wet conditions.
  • Will work outside in all weather conditions


Protective Equipment

Within the work environment, the employee’s physical condition must be such that the employee can wear:

  • Hearing protection.
  • Head protection.
  • Steel-toe slip resistant footwear.
  • Eye protection when required.
  • Hand protection when required.
