Job Description:


The Bagger Operator is responsible for placing products safely and effectively in appropriate packages, keeping up with product output, maintaining a smooth and timely production line and ensuring the packaging equipment stays in good working condition.  All procedures and practices used are grounded in standards, regulations and laws addressing food safety and food quality, as well as environmental safety in accordance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). 


This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Maintains an understanding of the production schedule for each shift and how it influences the work to be done Understands and prepares for the specific film to be used that shift based on orders being run Understands the packaging equipment being used and how to adjust when needed.  Identifies packaging defects quickly and makes adjustments immediately Cleans and uses equipment effectively assuring that it remains in good working order Works with Plant Maintenance to plan for the preventive maintenance and protection of the equipment Checks all packages for correct dates, codes, weights and cut lines and intervenes immediately with machine adjustments as needed Manages film changeovers quickly and assures that the production line continues to run smoothly and efficiently with no unnecessary delays Supports the implementation and monitoring of food safety and food quality standards, regulations and laws and records and documents according to procedures, notifying leaders if there are any concerns or opportunities for improvement Using SAP (computer software) scanning and validating film usage Performs all plant cleaning and sanitation activities on all equipment and in all departments following both safety and quality procedures, policies, and rules and in accordance with the standards, regulations and laws governing food safety, food quality and environmental safety regulations and monitors and accurately documents all work completed Assists production with packaging, palletizing, and other duties, as needed Assures the implementation of all identified food quality and food safety standards, laws, good manufacturing practices, training and continuous improvement Remains current in training expectations Keeps work environment clean, safe and positive Primary focus of all business related efforts are and must remain that of promoting excellence in all products Present a good and positive business image in every aspect of your professional daily business Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma
  • Requires a minimum of three years of progressive work experience with machine operation, preferably in the food products industry, and one year in a TreeHouse Private Brands production area
  • Requires the development of a working knowledge of food safety and food quality standards and regulations such as SQF and environmental safety regulations along with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Requires basic mathematical skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide and make fine adjustments in equipment settings.
  • Requires teamwork ability with a positive attitude, works well with others and communicates effectively with all associates
  • Requires effective and clear written and oral communication skills fluent in English to clearly communicate with other team members

Work Environment:

The employee works indoors in a production environment.  Additionally, the incumbent will work near moving mechanical parts, and in high places.  He/she will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  There is moderate noise in the work environment.
