  • Night Shift - Electrical Tech II

    6pm - 6:30am - start time may vary 1 hour before or after to align with production needs.

    MAIN DUTIES:

    • Plans, installs and repairs a wide variety of complex electrical equipment, including automatic machine and process controls, control centers and panels, relays, circuit breakers, and electronic controls
    • Requires a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation
    • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements; uses Lock–out, Tag-out
    • Advises Line Operators and Mechanics of operational procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic equipment and components
    • Informs appropriate management and mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved
    • Supports the Maintenance department in their respective areas in matters pertaining to electrical, automation and control application/repair/optimization
    • Reads and follows electrical schematics for high voltage, low voltage and various control circuits
    • Updates knowledge and skills, staying current on available technology
    • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and programs Motors, Drives, PLC’s, MCC’s etc.
    • Runs conduit and pulls wire to NEC standards
    • Maintains performance and maintenance records for identified equipment – eg downtime reports
    • Researches parts and fill out parts requests
    • Installs new equipment – works with outside contractors and makes sure they understand what’s required and that they follow all safety procedures
    • Performs PM’s (Preventative Maintenance) functions as directed
    • Interprets complex diagrams and schematics associated with manufacturing and support systems
    • Completes work through delegation and cooperation with indirect reports and teammates
    • Performs other assigned duties as required

      SAFETY:

    • Understands equipment hazards to prevent injury to self and others – understands company policies on safety and follow procedures – GMP’s, (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), PPE  (Personal Protective Equipment) Lock out/Tag out
    • Reports any potentially unsafe practices/conditions to the Lead or Supervisor
    • Is able to safely lift items up to 50lbs – motors, parts - asks for help when lifting heavier items
    • Recommends changes to improve safety standards
    • Is certified to use the motorized Pallet Jack, Fork Lift, Scissor Lift, Boom lift, Lock-out Tag-out – ensures safe operation of all machinery, tools and equipment
    • Maintains proper housekeeping and safety standards

      WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • May be assigned to work in extremely cold or hot conditions
    • Most positions are located in areas with loud noise and will require the employee to wear protective ear plugs
    • Other conditions include flour dust, wet floors, occasional smoke and fumes if bread burns, occasional fumes from cleaning chemicals (ammonia)
    • Main activities will be frequent walking, occasional lifting and standing and some sitting, pulling, pushing and climbing
    • May also require performing some work in cramped or confined spaces

      SCOPE: 

    • These positions have no supervisory responsibilities
    • Works as a team member and supports others when major problems occur
    • Works closely with Plant Supervisors and Leads, Automation and Controls Technician, Machine Operators, Fabricators, Mechanics and Vendors/Contractors

    • Language skills – Should be able to read and write the necessary documents and procedures in English. In addition, should be able to communicate clearly in English any work direction, instructions or feedback. Ability to speak Spanish a plus

      EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 2 years of Technical College or equivalent work experience in the field of electronics and controls
    • Thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes
    • Advanced understanding of machine automation, control logics and the NEC standards
    • Working knowledge of various PLC and control systems
    • At least 7 years progressive work experience with controls systems and Industrial Electrical
    • Food industry experience preferred but not required
    • Able to read, write and speak English – bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required
    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
    • Be able to bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs
    • Willing to work any shift and overtime as required
