Roles & Responsibilities:

- Demonstrated leadership, combined with a focus on strategic planning/thinking and finding creative solutions in a challenging work environment.

- This position will help strengthen the leadership team through collaborative interaction, and be able to provide sound coaching and advice to managers on all HR related areas that impact the plant.

- Considered a strategic partner, an employee sponsor or advocate and a change mentor and change agent. Fostering effective methods of goal setting, communication and empowerment through responsibility, builds employee ownership of the organization.

- HR Manager has the responsibility for all of the functions that deal with the needs and activities of the organization’s people. In the areas of: workforce planning, organizational design, talent development, succession planning, performance management, employee/labor relations, HR administration and compensation and change management.

- Identified as a strong strategic partner through impact services such as the design of work positions; hiring; reward; recognition and strategic pay; performance development and appraisal systems; career and succession planning; and employee development.

- Directs and oversees various employee relations activities and programs designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee engagement, ownership and accountability.

- Evaluates the status and productivity of Human Resource programs and recommends changes to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness. Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves problem areas such as attendance, LOA, work safe BC, unemployment compensation, etc.

- Maintains a high level of visibility and accessibility to all employees.

- Provides direction and counsel to HR staff, department managers, supervisors and employees regarding policies and programs affecting the human resources function.

- Responsible for conducting internal workplace investigations.

- Develops and ensures open communication avenues are maintained between employees and management.

- Ensures high level of integrity is maintained and that personnel matters are handled in a professional, confidential and discreet manner.

- Promotes a positive work environment for all employees.

- Oversees company leave programs such as Worker’s Compensation, Short Term Disability, Military, and Personal Leaves of Absence. Ensures compliance with federal, and local employments laws as well as consistency in the application of leave programs.

- Works with Company Management to ensure employee Return to Work programs are effective and consistently administered.

- Oversees the Hourly Attendance Program. Includes final review of all occurrences prior to termination decisions being carried out.

- Oversees and manages the Progressive Discipline System for the Hourly Workforce. Ensures consistent application of the system, reviews and approves recommendations for terminations ensuring compliance with federal, state and/or local employment laws.

- In conjunction with Director, HR monitors salary administration to ensure equity internally and externally.

- Supports the Performance Management Process throughout the year by ensuring performance reviews are completed in a timely manner and providing coaching/counseling to managers related to performance feedback and goal setting.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of human resource management.
  • Thorough knowledge of labor and employment law.
  • Ability to interpret and administer company policies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid to Advanced level computer skills including experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access and HRIS program.
