Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the department in all aspects that deal with the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and control systems
  • Develop and maintain an effective working relationship between the maintenance staff and the rest of the workforce
  • Prioritize the scheduling of maintenance activities in accordance with production needs and engineering projects
  • Develop, implement and audit the Preventative Maintenance Program through the maintenance supervisors
  • Develops and implements PMs
  • Provide leadership as an engineering resource to the maintenance department as a whole
    Monitor and maintain maintenance and repair costs
  • Coordinate and assist in the supervision of outside contractor activities and evaluate the work to be performed in terms of cost vs. investment
  • Monitor mill and packing line efficiency through PLC automation to help determine where to spend maintenance dollars in order to improve production
  • Assist with the design and programming of data acquisition at the plant floor level when necessary
  • Equipment Reliability
  • Develop and deliver maintenance budget including, but not limited to straight time and overtime hourly labor, outside services, supplies (lubricants, etc) and repair parts

Education

  • High School Diploma. Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.

Experience

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills and the proven ability to work effectively with people at all levels of an organization
  • 5 years supervising maintenance mechanics
  • Working knowledge and experience in managing ammonia systems
  • Knowledge of electronics and experience in controls systems and instrumentation
  • Problem resolution skills and proficient interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effectively use computers and standard office software (Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes)
  • Ability to be on-call as needed or to be called into work with minimal notice

Special Knowledge, Abilities, Skills

  • Knowledge/Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement Processes and Tools
  • Electrical power and controls (PLC, VFD, and instruments) especially Allen-Bradley
  • Mechanical systems
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
  • Familiarity with FDA and GMP guidelines.
  • Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, AutoCad
