Job Description:

Position Summary:

Accountable for directing the plant production activities to produce quality products at the lowest cost and consistent with company schedules and policies. Coordinates with Scheduling and Supply Chain departments to provide production and shipment of quality products to fulfill customer requirements. Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, manpower and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses; works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability. Interprets policy and decides the best course of action in problems of quality, scheduling and interpretation of engineering requirements, particularly where interdepartmental contacts are involved, to maintain efficient operations. Selects, trains and promotes supervisory employees and provide effective and efficient management in the department.  Participates in company planning through budget preparation, capital expenditure recommendation, manpower and space forecasting.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Establish leadership and set the strategic direction for the manufacturing team. Ensure necessary plans are in place to deliver the required business results while developing a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Must be able to drive step function improvements in manufacturing while preparing for new customers and rapid sales growth. Must be able to put new systems and procedures in place while instilling accountability and ownership in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Utilize available data (line speed target, set-up guidelines, and efficiency and process data) to continuously improve productivity, uptime and reliability.  Utilize the above information as a tool to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and product cost.
  • Sets aggressive goals to drive improvements with clear and visual goals and accountabilities. In addition, sets clear priorities and aligns resources to deliver against business and regulatory requirements in the areas of cost, financial controls, quality, safety and business initiatives.
  • Assesses manufacturing staff for performance and job fit. Manages staff of direct and indirect reports through regular feedback, performance reviews and developmental activities to ensure movement towards a high performance organization.
  • Supports Continuous Improvement projects through the practice of Root Cause Analysis, Kaizens, 5S, etc.
  • Must comply and support the requirements defined within the contents of the GMP’S, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), LOTO procedures, personnel safety programs, and foods safety programs established by Treehouse Foods.
  • Must be able to do other related duties as assigned. This position can involve weekend and on call duties.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing production role
  • 2+ years’ experience as a Production/Operations Supervisor
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety
  • Working knowledge of State and Federal regulations related to Plant operations
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as a group
  • Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Knowledge of raw materials
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance
  • Solid understanding of process improvement techniques and systems
  • Knowledge of business, finance and management principles
  • Knowledge of human resource principles and practices
  • Knowledge of machines and tools
  • Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience Required – Type: Engineering, technical or related field
