Job Description:

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the Supply Chain functions of planning, scheduling, procurement, incoming transportation of materials including ingredients, labels, bulk and packaging for private label food processing.
  • Manage complex private label food condiments.
  • Work as a communication liaison between the plant, and corporate sales, scheduling, customer service, manufacturing platform, and business teams in proactively communicating and resolving service issues and/or meeting business and customer needs.
  • Responsible for a distribution strategy in support of achieving ConAgra’s target customer service levels with a minimum investment in inventories and at the lowest possible cost.
  • Manage a team of salaried employees (six or more).
  • Oversee the purchasing/release function in the areas of ingredients, packaging and commodities by assuring continuous supply and optimizing procurement to minimize total costs.
  • Oversee inventory of ingredients, packaging and commodities, managing risk of obsolescence versus supply shortage.
  • Strong Communication and liaison with Warehousing regarding inventory levels and accuracy, and stocking strategies.
  • Maintain controls and procedures to ensure optimum levels of inventory within the systems to maintain order accuracy and timeliness.
  • Work with plant operations to identify opportunities to improve production cycles in order to reduce working capital while also maintaining or lowering total net landed costs.
  • Direct the incoming traffic function and take appropriate action to ensure that carriers meet ConAgra requirements.
  • Prepare budgets and control costs within established standards.
  • Serve as a member of the plant leadership team in support of plant goals.
  • Involved in plant trials, cost effectiveness, research & development, and vendor certification.
  • Safely and accurately perform all duties as required for this position to ensure the safety and quality of our products.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Critical Skill Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Business, Transportation or related.
  • Four years supply chain, distribution management, planning or inventory control, or procurement experience in the food or grocery industry.
  • Ability to: read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word.
  • Proven proficiency with inventory management systems, preferably JDE or SAP.
  • Ability to: write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to utilize business systems and interpret data and information from relayed reports.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to perform the following:  standing, climbing, pulling, and or pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and stooping.
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time. 
  • Good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Good hand/eye coordination, motor skills, 20/20 corrected vision and hearing within the normal range.

  • Maintain clean and safe working environment and follow all safety policies and procedures, such as lock out/tag out, safe lifting techniques, and all others as instructed.
  • Inform Management of any food safety or quality issues or of any processes which become noncompliant with specified requirements.

Food Safety:

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
