Position Summary:

Is accountable for directing the plant production activities to produce quality products at the least cost and consistent with company schedules and policies. Coordinates with Production depart to provide production and shipment of quality products to fulfill customer requirements. Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, manpower and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses; works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability. Interprets policy and decides the best course of action in problems of quality, scheduling and interpretation of engineering requirements, particularly where interdepartmental contacts are involved, to maintain efficient operations. Selects, trains and promotes supervisory employees and provide effective and efficient management in the department.  Participates in company planning through budget preparation, capital expenditure recommendation, manpower and space forecasting.

Position Responsibilities:

• Oversee the production process, drawing up a production schedule;
• Ensure that the production is cost effective;
• Identify internal and external resources needed;
• Draft a timescale for the job;
• Estimate costs and set the quality standards;
• Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed;
• Partner with Maintenance in the equipment selection process
• Monitor product standards and implement quality-control programs;
• Liaise among different departments, e.g. suppliers, managers;
• Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed;
• Identify training and development needs for team member.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing production role
• 4 years’ experience as a Production/Operations Supervisor
• Excellent project management skills
• Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety
• Working knowledge of State and Federal regulations related to Plant operations
• Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as a group
• Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques
• Knowledge of raw materials
• Knowledge of quality systems and standards
• Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance
• Solid understanding of process improvement techniques and systems
• Knowledge of business, finance and management principles
• Knowledge of human resource principles and practices
• Knowledge of machines and tools
• Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Engineering, Technical or r​elevant field and/or​ equivalent work experience.

Preferred Attributes

Food industry experience preferred.
