Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Human Resources, Meals supports the Meals division functional groups and provides HR leadership and oversight of select regional manufacturing sites. This position reports into the Senior Director, Human Resources, Meals and will act as a business partner to functional and plant management. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for developing HR initiatives at the divisional level and maintaining a hands on approach in the implementation of HR processes at the local level.   

Roles & Responsibilities:

Division Support

  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of HR processes and programs that increase the effectiveness of the division
  • Leverage system generated reports to conduct regular audits and provide relevant reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources
  • Advise employees and managers on the interpretation of policies and compensation/benefit programs
  • Provide support to managers regarding employee relations, including performance management and conflict resolution
  • Assist the Meals Leadership Team in the development and execution of HR related projects, including workforce planning, functional excellence and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Analyze and communicate HR metrics and best practices in order to contribute to the overall objectives of the Meals Division’s HR strategy
  • Partner with division managers to identify and actively support top talent and work towards building bench strength across the division 
  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of SG&A positions
  • Conduct employee investigations and provide recommendations based on findings

Plant Support

  • Enhance functional competence and business acumen of the local HR team. Provide coaching to HR team members and foster a continuous learning environment.
  • Ensure sites are in compliance with all relevant employment legislation and collective agreements, where applicable
  • Provide prompt and knowledgeable support on HR inquiries to sites with varying legislative requirements and business environments
  • Drive HR functional excellence at the local level
  • Builds effective relationships with operational departments to understand their business goals and to support local HR in proactively identifying and implementing solutions that align with organizational strategies
  • Track and communicate site HR related metrics to identify key issues and assist in developing a plan to address opportunities

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Results oriented; proven ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Excellence written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment and labor laws
  • Strong judgement and personal credibility
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, document and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Experience and aptitude with HRIS, preferably with Workday
  • Thorough knowledge of current trends and issues in Human Resources Management


 Bachelor’s Degree Required:  Human Resources/Industrial Relations or Business

Minimum Experience Preferred (Number of years and type):

Three years of relevant experience in manufacturing environment. Food/CPG industry experience is preferred.
